ENGLISH FOR BUSINESS AND WORK

This course will improve your practical business communications skills such as negotiating, making presentations, using the telephone, emails and report writing, meetings and socializing.

1. ASSESSMENT

An assessment of your current ability in the four communication skills:

​

  • speaking

  • listening

  • writing

  • reading 

2. WHEN DO YOU USE ENGLISH?

When do you use English in your business? 

 

For example: 

​

  • meetings

  • sales negotiations

  • writing emails and reports

  • giving presentations

  • on the telephone

  • entertaining customers 

3. YOUR PERSONAL AIMS

Clear statements of what you want to achieve by improving your business English.

 

Examples of aims:

 

“to be able to take part effectively in business meetings”

"to give compelling sales presentations of my company's products"

​

​

Effective meetings and negotiations

4. YOUR OBJECTIVES

Each aim will have one or more specific objectives.

 

These are things you need to do to achieve your aim. 

 

For example:

 

Aim - “to be able to take part effectively in business meetings”

 

Objective - “to be able to use phrases and expressions to ask for and give opinions”

5. COURSE CONTENT

Content, activities and tasks appropriate for your objectives.

 

I will use a broad and interesting range of course material for your lessons – including authentic content from your own business or industry – so that your learning is highly practical and relevant to your aims and objectives.


You will also learn about the cultural and formality aspects of doing business in an English-speaking environment.
